The World Police and Fire Games, the third largest multi-sport event in the world, is providing local bed and breakfast owners and self-catering providers with a unique opportunity to increase their bookings for next summer.  The Games will take place in Belfast and selected venues throughout Northern Ireland from 1st-10th August attracting over 10,000 athletes and an additional 15,000 visitors.

NITB and BVCB are encouraging accommodation and tourism providers across the region to maximise the potential of the Games’ visitors and have initiated a series of roadshows along with the NI Bed and Breakfast Partnership and NI Self-catering Holidays Association to spread the message.

Mary Jo McCanny, Director Visitor Servicing, Belfast Visitor and Convention Bureau, who are co-ordinating WPFG’s accommodation requirements, explains, “This event is the biggest of its kind ever to be held in Northern Ireland and as such we will be using every type of accommodation available.  Many athletes like the homely atmosphere provided by B&B’s, Guest Houses and Farm Houses, whilst others travelling with friends and family find the self-catering choice more suitable.  Both options will play a very important role in the overall accommodation offering for our visitors and we are keen to bring that message out to as many providers as possible through these informal regional roadshows.”

The Games’ potential will be highlighted at five roadshows beginning in the Magherabuoy Hotel, Portrush on 4th December, followed by the Ramada Plaza Hotel, Belfast on 5th December; Burrendale Hotel, Newcastle on 6th December; Armagh City Hotel, Armagh on 10th December and Lough Erne Resort, Enniskillen on 11th December.  Each roadshow begins at 2pm with a Bed and Breakfast focus from 2pm-4pm and a Self-catering focus from 6pm-8pm.  All providers are welcome with no requirement to be a member of NIBBP or NISCHA.  For further information please phone 0845 1800286 or log on to
