John Tully, Chief Executive, 2013 WPFG explains, “With competitors and their friends from an estimated 70 countries anticipated in Northern Ireland this August transportation will be a vital element in the smooth running of the Games. The majority of these athletes and visitors will have no independent means of transport so we are supporting their needs by providing an integral transportation plan which will allow easy and convenient travel between venues. Translink’s extensive bus and train network complemented by a schedule of bespoke coach services will comprehensively deliver all our requirements and we look forward to working closely with the Translink team.”
All registered athletes are issued with a Transportation Pass which they pay for as part of the Games accreditation process, accompanying friends and family will also have the option of purchasing the ten day pass which entitles holders to use designated train and bus services which cover 32 of the 42 sporting venues. Bespoke coach transportation will be provided from central Belfast to venues outside these zones.

The World Police and Fire Games is biannual event commonly referred to as the ‘Olympics’ for serving and retired police, fire, prison and border security officers. It is the third largest multi sports event in the world and will be hosted by Belfast from 1st-10th August 2013.
