Other
large birds that frequent the Hardy Bay area include: Great
blue heron, turkey vulture, red-tailed hawk and osprey. The
productivity of this estuary complex draws large numbers of
winter migrants; some passing through while others remain throughout
the winter. Waterfowl and shorebirds can be found in the hundreds,
even thousands during peak times.
Northern shovellers, green-winged teal, gadwall, American widgeon,
harlequin ducks, trumpeter swans, hooded mergansers and many
more species can be easily viewed from the observation tower.
