Reimagining Events - Inclusive Access

Access and Inclusion Webinar, Thursday 3 February 2022, 2 pm

The events industry and supply chain has been identified as one of the key sectors affected by this pandemic. In response to the ongoing crisis, Tourism NI is continuing its events-specific webinar series to support the industry on the road to recovery. This will help us all to ensure we develop and diversify our offer, and grow audiences to support the long-term sustainability of the sector.

Webinar overview

One of the lasting memories of the pandemic was the sudden experience of social isolation we all shared in early 2020. As the restrictions ease and the return of in-person events draws near, the issue of accessibility has never been more relevant. This webinar addressed the barriers preventing people from attending events and explored helpful techniques to ensure all aspects of your events are inclusive.

Presenter

Aoife O’Reilly (she/her) is the Project Co-Ordinator for Gig Buddies Belfast, a Black Box project with the Belfast City Council. With her knowledge of event organisation, promotion, and performance as well as experience working with people with different disabilities, Aoife highlighted important considerations that can support inclusivity and accessibility at events.

Facilitator

The webinar was facilitated by Lesley Maltman, Owner and Director, The Eventor. Lesley has over 25 years’ experience delivering projects across the events spectrum, including large-scale outdoor music, cultural, arts, food and sporting festivals, conferences, exhibitions and incentive programmes.

Attendees

The webinar was aimed at anyone working across the festivals and events industry, including venues and the wider supply chain. However the content and learnings are highly transferable across the tourism sector, so everyone was very welcome to attend.
