Tourism NI is delighted to partner with Belfast Metropolitan College to deliver this free level 2 City and Guilds accredited short course.

Ever fancied a career in the vibrant world of Tourism? Then this is the course for you! Tourism offers you a career that is flexible, vibrant and rewarding, providing the opportunity to meet people from around the world and has many different roles from visitor attractions, to tour guides, to hotels, and wider hospitality.

Tourism is a growing sector of Northern Ireland’s economy, in 2019, it was worth over £1 billion with 5.3 million overnight trips. 

This course has been designed to provide additional upskilling and reskilling opportunities, focused on supporting individuals who ordinarily would not have applied for a course within the tourism sector, to engage in learning and improve the skills profile of our local Tourism workforce.

The Get into Tourism course will take place on the 5th and 6th March 2024 at Titanic Belfast.

This course is aimed at: 

  • Those who are interested in pursuing a career in Tourism.
  • Those who may have little or no experience in this area.
  • Those who are not currently working in the sector.

The course will provide participants with the opportunity to explore pathways in the industry and to ensure the best fit for your future career. Participants will also have the opportunity to visit some of Northern Ireland's best Tourism attractions and experiences.

The course will also provide you with:

  • An immersive and inspirational overview of the Tourism and Hospitality Sector.
  • Exploration of a variety of career pathways to allow you to establish the best fit for your future.
  • A level 2 qualification in the Principles of Customer Service
  • Valuable information from employers who will attend the sessions and be available to chat to you about jobs in their businesses and how to apply for these positions.

Qualification objectives include:

  • Understanding the importance to the organisation in providing excellent customer service in tourism.
  • Understanding the role of the individual in delivering customer service in tourism.
  • Understanding the importance of customers' needs and expectations in tourism.
