Built in 1973, the modernised villa retains many of its original retro features and is close to Northern Ireland's top tourist spots including the 15th-century Kilclief Castle, Strangford, Ardglass, Downpatrick, and Newcastle.
Castlepoint has also been recognised as a ‘Families, Golfers, Walkers, Film Crew and Cyclists Welcome’ property. The Welcome schemes help to direct visitors to suitable establishments that pay particular attention to their specific requirements.
Sean Henry, Senior Quality Advisor, Quality & Standards team at Tourism NI, commented:
“Castlepoint is a fantastic addition to the tourism offering for any visitor wishing to come and explore more of the County Down area. It is the perfect base for both local and international visitors to relax and unwind. This four-star rating now gives it a great springboard to draw even more visitors to the area."
Sean added: “We congratulate Kevin and the owners, Michael and Lauren McAlister on this fantastic achievement and wish them every success for their future.”
Kevin Glennon, Property Manager added:
