Terence Brannigan has received an OBE for services to tourism and Patricia Corbett has been awarded an MBE for services to the community.

Mr McGrillen commented;
“On behalf of the board and staff of Tourism NI we offer Terence our sincere congratulations on his OBE in recognition of his commitment and hard work as chairman of Tourism NI over the last seven years. During this period the industry has achieved many highs including the staging of the 148th Open at Royal Portrush in 2019 which helped to break through the £1 billion revenue target for tourism. Terence has also led Tourism NI’s response to the impact of the pandemic on the tourism industry”.

“During his time as chairman Terence has championed Tourism NI’s work and represented the organisation at all levels and as he steps down as chairman this month our very best wishes also go to Terence for his future endeavours”

Patricia Corbett joined the board of Tourism NI in May 2020. Her most recent full-time role was as the first Head of Hillsborough Castle for Historic Royal Palaces. She led the £20m programme to open the Castle and Gardens to the public transforming it into a leading visitor attraction.

As a Deputy Lieutenant for the Borough of Belfast her role is to support Royal and civic lieutenancy activity, including encouraging voluntary and charitable organisations and supporting local businesses. Patricia is also a member of the Board of The Grand Opera House, Belfast.

Commenting on Patricia’s MBE John McGrillen said;
“Since joining Tourism NI’s board two year’s ago Patricia has made a hugely positive contribution to our organisation and to the tourism industry and we have all benefitted enormously from her wealth of experience at Hillsborough Castle. Outside of her work with Tourism NI, Patricia makes a valuable contribution across the arts and civic life in Northern Ireland and her award of an MBE is richly deserved. On behalf of the board and staff I offer Patricia my heartfelt congratulations.”
