Access into NI
Air access has been identified as one of the strategic priority areas for economic development and tourism. The maintenance of existing air routes and the introduction of new routes are vital to boosting and sustaining the NI economy.

Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) airport data show that air passenger flow for NI in 2025 stood at 9.3million, broadly on par with 2024. Passenger numbers through both Belfast airports saw minor declines vs 2024, while City of Derry Airport saw passenger flow increased by almost one-quarter.
