HATS Employer Guide to Apprenticeships

This Higher Level Apprenticeship in Hospitality Management is aimed at those employed or moving into supervisory/operational management roles such as Food and Beverage Operations Managers, Events Managers, Front Office Managers.

Eligibility criteria is as follows:

• Employed from day one, working a minimum of 21 contracted hours per week (including day release/off the job training) with one employer who has a permanent base within Northern Ireland;
• New employee or an existing employee undertaking a new job role in the company that requires additional learning and skills development;
• Attained the minimum school leaving age; and
• Must meet set entry criteria for the course

This 2.5 year course will provide your employee with the opportunity to gain a Foundation Degree in Hospitality Management with a progression pathway available through Ulster University to Honours Degree on completion. Course content will consist of core modules such as human resource management, marketing, entrepreneurship as well as industry specific modules. The opportunity to undertake a work based project focused on business improvement is also offered as part of the course.

A Higher Level Apprenticeship delivers many benefits to both your business and your employees! As an apprentice your employee will benefit from an earn while you learn, no fee educational programme. On successful completion, they will have achieved a Foundation Degree with the option to progress to Honours degree with Ulster University. Training is delivered during normal working hours reducing time constraints on employees who have commitments outside of work, making it an accessible way for staff to engage in upskilling. This investment in staff development can be fully integrated into your workforce planning in terms of both talent recruitment and retention

Eligibility criteria is as follows:

• Employed from day one, working a minimum of 21 contracted hours per week (including day release/off the job training) with one employer who has a permanent base within Northern Ireland;
• New employee or an existing employee undertaking a new job role in the company that requires additional learning and skills development;
• Attained the minimum school leaving age; and
