David Roberts - Director of Destination Development

David Roberts is Director of Destination Development at Tourism NI, leading the organisation's work to create and shape great destinations across Northern Ireland. His work focuses on influencing and supporting investment in visitor accommodation, experiences and infrastructure to strengthen the NI proposition and encourage sustainable tourism growth across regions and seasons.  

He also leads Tourism NI’s Strategy and Policy functions, providing insights and intelligence on the global travel environment and opportunities for growth. 

David has more than 30 years’ experience in economic and regional development, working across the public and private sectors in NI and GB. He spent the early part of his career in consultancy, producing compelling investment proposals, creating plans for change and growth, and assessing impacts.  

Prior to joining Tourism NI in 2021, he spent almost a decade at Invest NI as Head of Economics.
