Destination Development

The Regions and Investment team works with partners to identify ways in which local areas can create and maximise tourism opportunities. The team works across Northern Ireland as part of a strategic approach to support destinations to grow responsibly and sustainably.  

Facilitating and managing investment in attractions, experiences, accommodation and visitor infrastructure is a key area of focus. In addition to directly designing and delivering investment programmes, in recent years the team has worked closely with partners on leveraging other sources of investment in tourism such as the Shared Island fund.

The City and Growth Deals involve packages of significant investment across Northern Ireland over the next decade.  Tourism NI’s role is to maximise the success and impact of the tourism projects being progressed through the four Deals in Northern Ireland. The City and Growth Deals team is working closely with Councils and other partners on the proposed investments to ensure that maximise their contribution to the long term growth objectives for tourism in Northern Ireland and that they demonstrate value for money.

The Strategy & Policy Team supports the work of the Board and Executive Leadership Team in the development of tourism policy and strategy and guides the strategic direction of tourism in Northern Ireland through gathering, analysis and sharing of market intelligence, insights, economic, and consumer trends.  The team also supports the Board and Executive Leadership Team in developing, managing and overseeing the delivery of the annual Operating Plan and is responsible for co-ordinating key corporate information.
